On Friday the 24th February 2017, the Basketball Geelong Inc Commission approved the establishment of 3 additional Sub-Committees for Basketball Geelong and we are now calling on nominations for the available positions.
The 3 additional Sub-Committees are FINANCE, LIFE MEMBERS & EVENTS, which will be added to our COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE which is currently operating.
The members of the Finance Committee will include the CEO of Basketball Geelong, Treasurer of Basketball Geelong Inc. and an independent Chair appointed by the Basketball Geelong Commission.
Nominations for all other committees are now open.
The EVENTS SUB-COMMITTEE will plan and execute club events for both our Junior and Senior Supercats Teams, and major events for the Association. As part of the initial stages, the Sub-Committee will be required to develop a Terms of Reference for approval by the BGI Commission.
LIFE MEMBERS COMMITTEE
The Life Members Committee will establish a terms of reference for the committee, along with a selection policy suitable for honoring the history of both the Geelong Amateur Basketball Association and the Geelong Supercats. The Life Members Committee will then assess relevant nominees for Life Membership of BGI and if deemed suitable, will propose the nominees to the BGI Commission for induction.
The Competitions Committee is an active committee within the Basketball Geelong framework with an opening for additional members. The Competitions Committee operates under the attached Terms of Reference and works with the Competitions Manager to ensure the compliance of all Teams and Players to the Geelong Basketball League By-Laws.
