Match Report
After travelling to Sunbury and knocking off the Jets by two points earlier in the season, Sunbury came to Geelong looking to even the ledger against the Supercats.
Aiming to justify their third place on the ladder, the Jets played tough basketball, holding the ascendancy at each major break in the game.
The Supercats tried hard throughout, but a combination of missed layups and turnovers hurt Geelong too much, with Sunbury coming out on top.

Coaches Comments
‘Even though we have lost a few games in a row now, I still think we are OK.
We are understanding how to play offense as a team and learning different offensive concepts every week, while I think that we defend really well.
This week, again, there were a few too many turnovers, as well as a few too many missed layups. I am still trying to figure out whether they are due to a lack of skill development in those areas, or simply due to a lack of focus and concentration.
The fact is, though, that during the start of the season we got victories over teams that are either equal with, or below us on the ladder, while lately we have played the top teams on the ladder that are above us (with the exception of one game we have lost that we should have won, against Nunawading).
Without trying to make excuses, the losing began after the young boys played 7 games in three days at BVC Country Championships, and since that weekend have had to deal with an assortment of various injuries. Once we start to get players back in the team and playing at 100%, and the boys get a chance to rest up in the upcoming school holidays, I think we will be in a good position to finish the season strong.’

Played Bulleen Friday gone. It was a game with very little or no team work. Because of the lack of team play it resulted in our lowest score thus far. All the girls tried hard unfortunately not as a team.
Hopefully things will change in the coming weeks, it has to change if we are to win our coming weeks. With no game next week it will give the girls time to think about playing as a team. Perhaps the coming bye will allow the girls time to ponder their lack of team work and address this issue in the coming games. The sad thing about this game is the last time we played Bulleen we beat them by 7 scoring 35 points, very good team work was the reason for the win.
Good team work will lead to success.

Most pleasing thing about this game was that the girls got of to a good start and maintain a strong poistion through out the game.
Extremely rough game on there behalf that i had to speak to the umpires about a few times.
To the girls credit they were able to foucs on the game of basketball and not football which at times they chose to play.
First game that a captain was chosen, didnt help that she injured herself in the warm up but was very impressed with her voice and leading from the front through out the game.
Great job Lucy Howard.
Looking forward to seeing how some of the other girls preform in the role before a permanent captain is chosen after our tournament next weekend in ballarat.
Great work team looking forward to next weekend go cats

Match Report
Fairly even 1st 2 Quarters 8-9 and 8-6 respectively, with us leading by 1 at the main break.
3rd quarter was very low scoring with easy baskets missed by both teams 2-4 and us being 1p down heading into the last quarter.
The intensity of the game lifted in the 4th quarter and we were able to outscore the 2’s 15-11 and win by 3p.

Coaches Comments
We came ready to play and started well just couldn’t finish off our shots the way we would like.
Once again our scoring percentage was lower than it should be from both the field and foul line.
At times our offense was good with quick ball movement, though we didnt get the ball inside consistently enough to be as effective as we can be. Our press fell down on the 2nd line to often due to lack of talk and our packline D wasnt as good as it has been.
Though this game was far from our best It was great to see all 10 players contribute well and the determination in these boys to get over the line when it counts.

Match Report
Was a fantastic game of basketball to watch. This week we played the top of the ladder. Craigieburn got off to a good start and put us under pressure. Half time saw us behind 19-32. The boys hit back in the third scoring 22 points bringing the difference at three quarter to 41-42. Shot for shot in the last but Craigieburn got away as we had too many fouls and they went to the line a few times and put the baskets in.

We are continuing to develop. We have suffered many close losses and its just a matter of time for a win. I continue to be proud of these young men for never giving up

Far from full strength and some foul issues the girls battled hard. Plenty of positives but not sticking to task on a couple points was the difference, a learning curve in itself. Looking forward to having a fun crack at the tournament

Coming up against a red hot Waverley side that hardly missed a shot all night we were out worked and out played for most of the game. Defensively we didn’t work hard enough allowing to many easy baskets. Offensively we didn’t choose the right options and were constantly under pressure. Our first real flat performance for the season proper.

A game l would like to think was out of character. A good wake up call at this stage of the season. Good news is that no harm has been done by this result due to our earlier had work. Let’s use this going forward to become hungrier and realise that it requires 100% effort each week as it’s a very even competition.

A must win game against the bottom placed Hawks. We started Ok but could not put our pressure into points. With a 2 point advantage with 30 seconds to play in the first half, we called a timeout with the focus on making a stop and then holding the ball to for one shot and taking a lead into the second half. But a foul and a rushed shot with 15 seconds left on the clock left us 2 points behind at the half (14 – 12).
A change in defense after the main break and some good shooting from the foul line turned the game around. We where able to hold the Hawks to 7 second half points and run away with a 7 point win.

A queens Birthday long weekend tournament against very strong opposition where we will work on offensive structure and find out what is best for the group moving forward. 5 of 8 games at home and one neutral for the second half of the season give the team every chance to finish high on the ladder a secure a second chance.

We got off to a terrible start being 8-0 down & really struggled from there. Despite being our worse game in the last month we managed to stick with Coburg. In the second half the margin blew out to 14 points & we launched another attack only to be stopped by 2 three point brinks off the backboard. It was just one of those nights where their shots dropped & our girls were missing

With Coburg sitting second on the ladder, we showed enough to see we are a better skilled team. However the result didn’t go our way. The girls need to continue to find that desire for the ball, the hunger just wasn’t there when we needed it most.
