‘I’m not really sure what the problem is right now.
We play great defense, in both the half-court and in transition.
We are playing good offense, making plays for others, doing something for a teammate and taking the right shots.
I think we just turn the ball over too much.’

Another game where we started slowly allowing Melbourne to score their first 1st six points rather quickly. We then scored four points it then looked like we were in for a good game. Then things went downhill with some very poor defence which allowed Melbourne to score as they liked. From then on it was a very tough ask. Especially when our attitude was like we can’t beat them, so they played accordingly. Ella was very very good in defence and forced many turnovers, she was supported by Addi and Viktoria. The sad part was all the girls did something good, unfortunately it wasn’t for long enough. It would be great to see thegirls play consistently as a team for the entire game. Our wins this season were all very good team games, their reaction after those games said it all, they were quite happy with the result. I am sure if they were to play that way consistently we would see some great wins. But for whatever the reasons the team game stops and the individual game appears. It’s extremely frustrating as I know they can play as a team. I just hope that they can also see it and get it happening sooner than later.

They played very well for most of the game which showed on the score board.
Let them back into the game a couple of times before maintaining a good lead and finishing it off in the last quater.
Their ability to fine the open shot, bye looking up and listening to their team mates was great tonight, really moved the ball well in transition.
Its was important that they played well as a team with one of our talls out, it was a good opportunity for others to step up, gain some more confidants which will only help this teams growth.
The girls got caught out a bit on the switch which left a few easy baskets but i believe this was mostly because of work rate, which we spoke about.
It was good to get the first win arena, looking forward to the girls tournament in a couple after of cause another good game next week.
Well done girls

Match Report
In a game that would have no impact on ladder position both teams played a high standard of junior basketball.
The Thunder defense was able to contain the young Supercats and force them into turnovers. The Geelong team improved its own defensive efforts which led to scoring opportunities.
In an exciting last quarter Geelong led by 4 points but crucial errors led to Keilor capitalising on the score board.
In the first 9 rounds of the Victorian Championship Geelong has been in a position to win but skill errors at crucial times caused losses.

We started well in the 1st quarter and would’ve been well ahead if our shots had’ve dropped , 7-6 up.
Our 2nd quarter was much better outscoring our opposition 13-5 and heading into the main break up by 9 , 20-11.
Our 3rd quarter was terrible, our defense was slack and Bacchus Marsh started scoring in the paint , 10-17 and now only 2p up at three quarter time.
The last quarter was close and the boys held on for a 3p win , 42-39.

We are still playing inconsistent basketball, at times we do brilliant things and then some quite average things. The one thing this Team do do well is fight hard and not give in. This week at training we will work really hard in all areas of play and the boys are really committed to improve and get four quarters together.

Against an undefeated Melbourne side the girls played well for both teams to be fairly close at half time. The 2nd half saw the girls pushing the ball hard in transition and although we were unlucky with a few missed shots we pushed the lead out to 10 and managed to pretty much hold the lead for a great team win

A fantastic 4 quarter effort by all the team, with each player contributing. Pleasing for the girls too see what they can do against strong opposition and pleasing to see some great offence and decision making. Again more to work on but a fantastic game by the girls, awesome effort!

After a fairly even first half we managed to pinch a 10 point lead at the main break. After being held scoreless in the 3rd 1/4 last week l put it on the boys to kill the contest this week and that is exactly what they did. Cruising to a comfortable 20 point win was a nice change from the last couple of games.

Pleasing to have a very even performance with no major standouts. Team effort.
Coaches Comments
1 more game before the bye when everyone deserves a well earned rest. If we manage to get there without a lose it will be a huge performance that we can use as a launching pad into the second half of the season. Again well done to everyone.

A game against the undefeated Frankston would always be a challenge away. For most of the game we where able to pressure and force Frankston into trouble but once again concentration over 4 quarters hurt us. We where able to keep pace with the league leaders in the first and last quarters but the damage was done just before halftime and the 3rd quarter.

Match Report
Another home game away saw us face Western Port, a team who were equal with us on the ladder. The girls got off to a solid start having a 5 point lead. They built this up to 12 at half time thru some good defence & scoring in a variety of ways. The third quarter saw Western Port issue us a challenge one which we were able to withstand, keeping the margin around 14. In the last they came again at us scoring 8 points in a row, before Emily managed to steady the ship scoring 4 of our own, allowing us to reclaim the buffer & extinguish their challenge.

Coaches Comments
Despite Western Port being tall our tall girls were able to dominate the rebounds, while our guards had the superior speed & skill. Our girls worked hard for 4 quarters, however we panicked a bit in the last when the challenge was issued. Overall a very solid team game that gave us back to back wins for the first time this season. We are now within range of the top 5 & will need to continue to work hard & work together to capitalise on the momentum
