Basketball Geelong has three types of competitions:

Geelong Basketball League – our largest league with 13 clubs participating in over 38 divisions, catering from U10’s to seniors. To find a club, click here.

Supercats School League – is a school based basketball competition open to all primary schools in the Greater Geelong region, catering from prep to Grade 6.

Senior Social League – Sunday night social competition for mixed teams or Thursday Night’s @ Try Boys for Mens & Womens social, where it is all about fun.

Joining an Existing Team

All you need to do is provide Basketball Geelong with your basic details, you can do this by clicking here.

When we find the right club or team for you, Basketball Geelong will pass on your contact details and they will then make contact with you.

What are the costs involved with playing?

Before you take the court in your first game you must register with Basketball Geelong, this is an annual fee of $65* for juniors and seniors.

As of the start of Summer 2017 season (October 2016) each game you then purchase a ticket to play, juniors ($9.00), U23’s Comp ($9.00) and seniors ($10.00). Social Teams pay $60.00 per team regardless of the number of players.

Clubs also have fees, and this varies from club to club. Club fees predominantly cover the cost of venue hire for training, as well as basic administration expenses of the club including team entry fees.
*Online Costs. Payment in person incurs a $10.00 admin fee.

What nights are competitions played?

If you select the Fixtures/Results tab on the top menu of the website you will be able to see what days, certain age groups and divisions play on. Basketball Geelong conducts underage competitions, therefore if you are turning 16 this year, you would play U18’s. The competition divisions, ie Div 1, Div 2 or Div 3 refers to the standard of competition, if you are just beginning you would be suited to Div 3.

Social Leagues are played on:

  • Social Mixed – Sunday
  • Social Men’s – Thursday
  • Social Women’s – Thursday

Supercats School League is played on:

  • Prep to Grade 2 – Thursday
  • Grade 3 and 4 – Thursday
  • Grade 5 and 6 – Thursday
