IMPORTANT MESSAGE
All teams are subject to change at the discretion of Basketball Geelong’s Director of Pathways and Development before, during and after the Geelong Junior Tournament in Nov 2017. This will allow the coaches to have a look at the teams in game play situations before the confirming teams for the 2017/18 VJBL Season and 2018 Victorian Country State Championships.
A NOTE FROM THE SUPERCATS
This year has been the most challenging year so far in relation to the selection of teams. We have had a record numbers of players at Try Outs and the increased skill level has made the process very difficult for all of the coaches and selectors. This is a great problem to have and means that our teams should be focused on playing at the highest level possible at the end of grading.
If you have missed a first team it is not the end of the world. Think back to what Nick Owusu told us in his pathways message (LINK), the Supercats program is designed to help you develop as a player and opportunities come to those that work hard. To assist everyone’s development, this year we will run more Super Sessions, with our leading coaches coming in and working with the teams on a monthly basis.
The Supercats Performance Program, SEABL Academy Program and our new Mini Cats Program will be up and running at the new AWA Alliance Bank Stadium. We are excited to be moving in early November and this will increase the development opportunities for everyone. Our pathway is developing each year and it is an exciting time to be part of the Luina Geelong Supercats.
A big thank you to all players who tried out this year, if you didn’t make a team, we wish you the best for your development this year and hope to see you at the 2018 Geelong Supercats Try Outs.
If you have any enquiries about the selections please email davidh@basketballgeelong.com.au

We have decided to run with a bottom age and top age team in the Under 18 Boys VJBL competition. This has happened for a number of reasons.
The close selection and evenness of the groups
Preparation of the bottom age team for 2019 in an effort to have them working together effectively.

Please Note:
Final squads to be announced once the Youth League and Big V teams are finalised. A large majority of players trial across the Under 20, Big Youth League and Division 1 men’s teams so it is important to consider the best possible outcome and position for all athletes.
Please Note:
Development players will be asked to join in team training sessions and may be called into teams if we have players withdraw or have injuries and illness. The aim for the players listed is to help them to develop their fundamental skills so they are ready to play representative basketball in the future.
