Agnes Emma-Nnopu Returns Home

The Luina Bio Geelong Supercats are excited to announce Agnes Emma-Nnopu has signed for the 2020 NBL1 season, before heading to the USA for her freshman year at Stanford University.

Known as “Nus” to many, she started her basketball journey playing VJBL at Bellarine Storm, under local legend Brendan Matthews. Brendan instilled the work ethic and attitude that is required to reach the highest heights in basketball, and anyone that has seen Nus play will know she always gives 100% effort and will never give up. These traits are exactly what Nus will be hoping bring to the Supercats women’s team.

After a stellar performance with the Country Victorian Under 18 girls team that won the Gold Medal at the Australian Junior Championships in 2017, she was offered a scholarship into the C.O.E in Canberra. This where Nus honed her skill under the watchful eye of our newly appointed NBL1 women’s coach Matthew Paton.

The highlight of her young career was playing for Australia at the Under 19 World Championships, where the team won silver after losing to the USA in overtime. The gold medal game was the ideal stage for Nus to showcase to the world how much had developed in such a short time. In the gold medal game Nus was absolutely outstanding, with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals & 2 blocks.

The Supercats can’t wait for her to arrive back home for the NBL1 2020 season.
