Basketball Geelong’s future female leaders step up

Basketball Geelong is excited to announce the appointment of four female coaches to our VJBL ranks. Kat Herbert will return to Geelong to coach the U12 Boys 1, while Caitlin Shadbolt, Makayla Armour and Holly Robinson have all accepting Assistant Coach roles within our junior girls program.

Following a number of years with Westgate Basketball Association where she started the representative program and was the inaugural Director of Coaching, Kat Herbert will return home in 2018 to lead the Supercats U12 Boys 1. In her first stint with Geelong Kat coached the U12 Boys 2nd, then 1st, before moving on to the role as Youth League Women’s head coach and then finally as the under 12 1 girls coach. Kat has lived in Melbourne for a few years, but a return to Lara means a return to the Supercats.

Caitlin Shadbolt will team up with Glenn Sharp  as the Assistant Coach of the U18 Girls 1, Makayla Armour with Frank Morrissy and the U14 Girls 1 and Holly Robinson will assist Col Darrington with the U12 Girls 1.

It is great to see a number of our current and former representative players stepping into coaching roles.

The list of Head Coaches for 2018 has been updated to reflect Kat Herbert’s appointment. Kat rounds out the first team Head Coaches and sets us up for our selection try outs commencing on Saturday 9th September.
