GBL WRAP – Finals Round 2
Only 2 games made up the preliminary final round of the 2017 GBL finals.
In the men’s preliminary final, CC Eagles have advanced to the grand final, following an impressive 76-52 win over YMCA. Liam McInerney put in a strong performance, scoring 23 points to lead the way for Christian College. Jacob Pupavac (19 points) and Nathan Freind (15) were both instrumental in the victory. Lewis Varley battled hard for YMCA, scoring a game high 26 points, although received little scoring support from his teammates.
In the women’s prelim final, Sharks have booked the final place in the grand final, winning 80-74 and sending Dolphins out in straight sets. Alex Duck stepped up, scoring 24 points to lead her team to victory, while Georgia Varley (20 points), Katrina Vogelezang (12) and Jessie Christiaans (10) all provided the scoring support. Cortney Williamson went down swinging, scoring a game high 34 points. Kim Martin was also strong with 22 of her own, although not enough to get Dolphins across the line.
