After an extensive recruitment process, the Basketball Geelong Commission announced at it’s Annual General Meeting last night the appointment of Mark Neeld as the new Chief Executive Officer for the organisation.
With extensive experience in both business and the high performance sports industry, Mark brings a level of strategic thinking that will take Basketball Geelong to new heights.
After completing a Masters of Business Administration, Mark has been lecturing in Business Management at La Trobe University
His previous employment experience includes change management, facility management and development and leadership.
“I am thrilled to be joining Basketball Geelong at such an exciting time for the sport in the region,” said Mark.
“Basketball Geelong and the Geelong Supercats are a strong brand in the community and have built a solid foundation, particularly with the AWA Alliance Bank Stadium in Belmont. There are some exciting opportunities for the future of the association.
“I look forward to working with the staff team, the Commission, the clubs and all stakeholders to continue to grow and promote basketball participation.”
With strong family ties to the Geelong community, Mark will begin in the role of Chief Executive Officer in late January 2019.
“To have a leader of Mark’s calibre available and interested in the position has been a real coup for us,” said Basketball Geelong chairman, Sebastian Loader.
“The Commission went through an exhaustive process to ensure we selected the right candidate, and we feel that Mark’s skills, experience and leadership capabilities will be a great asset to Basketball Geelong as we move into the future.”
