Social Women’s Daytime

Our Women’s Daytime program is an all-inclusive program that focuses on the social aspect of the sport while allowing for the participants to learn new skills and drills to improve their Basketball abilities!

Run by our NBL1 men’s captain DeMarcus Gatlin, the sessions consist of drill work to get the blood pumping, while also incorporating aspects of the game and its rules to help participants better understand how to approach the game in a real game setting. Finishing with a scrimmage and games, the program is built for those looking to enjoy a bit of morning Basketball fun.

The sessions coincide with the school term and run every Wedneday from 10am.

Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools increase children’s participation in sport and connect them with community sport opportunities.

To help achieve this, Sport Australia has partnered with more than 35 national sporting organisations (NSOs). There is a program for primary schools, and a targeted program for Year 7 and 8 students in secondary schools.

The objectives of Sporting Schools are to:

  • improve children’s fundamental movement skills to encourage lifelong participation in physical activity
  • increase the awareness of the value of sport in schools
  • engage children in high quality sporting programs
  • connect children with sport in their local communities

Walking Basketball

The Walking Basketball program provides optimal health benefits to all who participate including those who might be intimidated by the pace and impact of a traditional basketball game but love the slower more social version of Walking Basketball.

Walking Basketball is for participants of all ages, genders and abilities and helps to maintain and improve health and decrease risk factors associated with sedentary behaviour. What makes Walking Basketball stand out from most activities is that it doesn’t matter if you have never played the game of basketball before or you are pretty handy on the court as this will still be a level playing field for everyone within a social, fun and non-competitive environment!

Walking Basketball is run at AWA Alliance Bank Stadium every Tuesday. 10:30am-11:30am. The program coincides with the school term.
