Venezuelan National Star to join the Lady Supercats

Versatile Forward and Venezuelan National star, Daniela Wallen has agreed to terms with the Geelong Lady Supercats as we prepare for their 2018 SEABL title defense.  At just under 6 foot tall Wallen is an imposing figure who recently led Oklahoma City University to the NAIA national championship where she was named the national tournament MVP.  The honours did not stop their for Wallen as she also voted the 2017 NAIA national player of the year, defensive player of the year and was voted as a 2 time WBCA All American and NAIA All American across her college career.

So impressive are her college statistics, averaging 24.6 points per game shooting at 56%, from behind the 3 point arc an impressive 41.5% and to top it off 8.8 rebounds which landed her all the major NAIA awards.  This led to Wallen being recruited in her first professional club EOS in Sweden where she is currently  averaging 17.2points per game and 13 rebounds per game in a fantastic professional debut.

‘At just under 6 foot tall Daniela is powerful and plays with a grit and determination that really impressed us.  Obviously she loves the big occasion and just seems to find ways to get it done whether at college, in Sweden or Internationally for Venezuela.  In every team and game I have watched Daniela play she has posted a double – double.  Whether playing in the post or on the perimeter she has shown the versatility we require to challenge for a finals birth in the SEABL this year.’  Coach David Herbert said today.

‘I have watched hours of footage of her play and the thing that impressed me the most are how competitive and passionate she is, her ability to run the floor, dive on loose balls and do all of the 1% things to help her team achieve success made the decision to recruit her a no brainer.  We searched high and low for the right player and we believe we have found someone who fits the piece of the puzzle we are looking for.’ Herbert added

Daniela Wallen will arrive in April once her season with EOS is completed.

Player BIO
I’m Daniela Wallen, I’m come from Venezuela and I like to listen to the music most of the time. I started playing basketball when I was 15 year old. I play with my nacional team back home and I played 4 years of college in United States. I would be able to play any role, but If I have to choose Then rebounds can be my role.
How do you expect the team to go in 2018 and why?
I hope to achieve with Geelong supercats the highest: the championship, with my contribution in attack and defense as an important part of the team and thus give back the confidence placed in me. I always try to give the best of myself and keep the vision of what is superior to the best of me, that is, give 200%.
What are you most looking forward to in 2018?
Continue to grow as a person: intellectually and athletically, and that this influences to reach my individual goals, family, together with our goals in Geelong Supercats, we achieved these with hard work, focus, determination and humility .
