Another great team win, but Sophie Graham and Tara Trethowan were both on fire.

Super proud coach yet again, the girls turned up to this game knowing they would be two players short again, also knowing that they were coming up againist a pretty physical team and a intimidating coach. Too the girls credit they focused on their game and got the job done. Again the whole team scored, their team work and ability to fined the open player was very good. The girls will be working on not over playing the ball in defence especially when they are playing one on one. Big test next week against the only team that has beaten them in West gate. Im confiedent that if they continue to play the way they have, they can get the job done. Great work girls |

In a tight contest the young Supercats fell short by 6 points failing once again to defend their home court. To their credit the Geelong boys fought hard all night against a taller team and had difficulty defending the Cougars in the paint. The loss has forced Geelong into eighth place and in the situation where they must win at least 2 of the next three games to contest finals.

Lapses in concentration negatively impacts on this team and when this occurs they fail to score. When they work together good things do happen. |

Good start to the game in a tight 1st quarter 10p-9p. 2nd quarter missed a lot of opportunities and let our opposition score to easily 9p-10p. 19 all at the main break. The 3rd Seymour hit a few nice 3’s and made some easy fast breaks with our 2nd line failing in the press. 10-15p and down 5p heading into the last. Our last quarter wasnt great at either end of the court, 5p -14p and going down by 14p. |

Was a really disappointing game for us with some very undisciplined play. Our defence was way to inconsistent and our offence too stagnant. We had glimpses of great play with some really good steals and assists, but our rebounding let us down in particular at the offensive end. We will pick ourselves up, train hard this week and come out ready to play at home again next week. |

One of the best games we have played all season . The boys worked hard on both offence and defence. In front by 2 with a minute to play. The opposition scored a lucky 3 bouncing off the backboard and ring before dropping into the basket

With 3 games left each one is must win for us to secure a finals berth, the girls started slow and were even pegging in the 1st qtr, the 2nd qtr saw us lift our intensity and in the last half we were all over them for a comfortable win

A comfortable win with everyone contributing but will require a re focus and adjustments in the last 2 games for the girls to be playing at their best. That been said plenty of positives, well done girls |

Going into this game undermanned was always going to be a massive challenge. What the boys produced was up there with our best performance of the season. With 3 minutes to go we were only 4 points down against first placed Werribee and they were cracking under our defensive pressure. Unfortunately we were reduced to 4 on the court at this stage and couldn’t finish the game as we would of liked. End score not a true reflection of the game.

A win against the 6th placed Breakers would be a must for the team to play finals. With the team already down on numbers with Mia and Zoe out for the season and Bridget unavailable this week, Jacinta contracted Glandular Fever to put us down to 6 players with the introduction of Olivia Purcell for the last 3 games. The last time the 2 teams played, Mornington where able to get over the top of us late to win by 3. We needed to start fast and not let Mornington get easy fast break baskets. The first half was low scoring with the girls holing a 2 point lead at quarter time and 1 point at the half. At the main break we instructed the girls to attack the basket to create opportunities. The girls then took the game on and where able to gap Mornington open up a 7 point lead with two to play in the third. A quick timeout and we instructed the girls to kill the game and not let the Breakers back in the contest. The team did just that and scored the next 4 points to hold a 9 point lead going into the last. The girls closed out the game early in the last to lead by 16 but tired legs let Mornington get some cheap baskets and close the gap to 12 at the end.

As a coach, all you can ask for is commitment to each contest and this is what the group gave this week. For the first time this season we did not let our opponents take control and this is a credit to the 6 girls that played. A win against Eltham next Friday night will lock in our finals spot. |

Tonight we came against the 4rd place team, with us needing to win to keep our finals chances alive. A tight first quarter with neither team able to get the upper hand. The 2nd qtr, saw us missing many easy opportunities while Sandy made the most of their chances & had a 2 point lead going into the main break. We weren’t doing the small things that make good teams great & it was hurting us, not running back in d, not crashing the boards & not moving for the passes. The girls were challenged to lift & to fix these issues. Thankfully they did & started to gain the upper hand. With a strong end to the third we looked to have the momentum. We continued to play strong & lifted the intensity on defence, with more talk & more determination, which resulted in stops in defence & opportunities in offence. In the end we ran out strong 8 point winners in a pleasing second half.

This team is really coming together nicely. They are always there for each other & the energy & love they show for each other is brilliant. They truly enjoy playing with each other & it is showing on the court with our 4th win in a row. We still have plenty of work to do to make finals, so hoping for another strong performance next week. Great result girls |
