After a close first half, the Gators got out to a 4 point lead in the third quarter.
Showing great resilience, the Super-kittens pegged that back and some, able to extend the lead to seven points early in the fourth quarter.
After Altona came back at Geelong once again, Geelong were able to steady and knock down crucial free-throws to close the game out.

‘I was really happy with the way that the boys executed the game play.
They did an excellent job on transition defense and slowed down their run and ability to score quickly.
Once we got them into the half-court we were able to lock them up and limit their scoring.
On the other end we played and extremely unselfish brand of basketball, with guys passing the ball to teammates and looking for the best shot.’

Played Altona Friday unfortunately we didnt get it as easy as our 1st game verus them. Altona played the better b’ball right from the start as we were struggling to find baskets offensively because of a lack of any type of offence passing was awful a lot of the time becuase of no movement in offence. The defensive pressure didnt help either, as Altona forced many turnovers because of our mistakes. Down the defensive end we had trouble stopping Altona from scoring our only win defensively was the rebounding by Matisse. Sounds like oit was all bad, thats not the case there was some good passages of Basketball at ties both in offensive and defence but it was short lived & kept Altona in the game. It was only our mistakes that had them controlling the game right up until the last 3 minutes. Then all od a sudden the girls realised that we were down by 6 all five players on the floor decided it was time to play some basketball, Taylah and Matisse finishing off with baskets to draw a game that we should of won.
One game to go lets have a good win

Coaches Comments
Playing the only team that had beaten the girls this season up on their home court.
I could see and feel the girls were really keen to change the result, they were fanstanic from start to finish.
Defence was strong causing alot of turn overs in the press that was set up.
In Offence, ability to find a free player, speading the other teams defence just gets better each week.
The decision marking of this group is getting better with every game as well.
I especially love the way that the dont care who scorces the basket as long as the team scores it.
Its excellent team play and at this age level its not always seen.
Well done girls one more game then the finals awaits.
Also great of the girls to sing happy birthday to Evie Kemp and Madyson Potter-Ayres enjoy turning the big 10 girls.

Match Report
The young Supercats lost to a better Sabres team on the night and the inability to defend in the paint once again caused problems for the Geelong unit.
A stirring comeback in the third quarter saw Geelong grab the lead going into the final quarter. This came on the back of intensive defensive pressure and hard running into offense.
Unfortunately the Supercats could not maintain the effort and some great three point shooting from one Sabre player saw Sandy get the win by 7 points.

When the young Supercats concentrate and execute they do well. The defensive breakdowns will be worked on during the week.

In a very low scoring game where we were unable to get our field scoring over 28 % we managed to come away with a 10 p win by consistent pressure defence and scoring 83% from the foul line.
We still have a lot to work on this week at training both offensive and defensively. Happy with the boys fitness and determination to come home strong and win tight games.

We played textbook perfect basketball in the first quarter leading 21-11, slowly we loss control of the game. Three out of four quarters wasn’t good enough to take the win

In a game where it was going to be Casey’s (2nd place) speed vs Geelong’s (3rd place) size and strength it ended up being an even contest as the scores would indicate. The character l know these boys have came to the table again coming back from 8 points down in the final 1/4 to hit the final shot with less than a second left on the clock to manage another draw.

A win and finals would be secured with one week left in the season. Eltham got us by 10 early in the season but our girls where ready and controlled the game from the outset.
With quick ball movement and solid defense the team was able to score at will and gap Eltham at every break.
A very pleasing 4 quarter performance to run out 20 point winners.

The team is starting to work well at the right time of the season. The girls have shown glimpses throughout the year but the last 3 weeks under difficult circumstances gives us momentum as we head to the playoffs. Special mention to Olivia who has helped out in the last part of the season.

Match Report
A nice drive saw us taking on Mornington for a must win game if we wanted to play finals. Despite getting the first basket, Morning held the upper hand for most of the first half. Turnovers & poor decision making, proving to be very costly along with Mornington making the most of their chances & us missing ours. Down by 7 at the half we still felt like we were still in the game , but things weren’t going our way. A late rally in the third saw us reduce the margin to four points with the girls determined to finish off the job. The girls kept pushing hard & driving strong to the basket saw us draw closer. A full court trap led by Cleo was applied upping the tempo of Mornington & saw them turn the ball over & us able to capitalise on there mistakes where we wrestled the lead from them. Crutch foul shots & pure determination saw us take the lead & with good ball control we were able to hold strong winning by 3

A really bizarre game with some confusing calls, along with poor sportsmanship from Mornington saw our girls rattled early. To our girls credit they the blocked that out & got the job done, in a real sign of determination & maturity. Five in a row for these guys & the spirit they showed this week they can really challenge every team.
